Dr. Prem C. Chatpar has been in private practice on Long Island for over twenty-five years. He believes knowledge comes from experience and it is the experience that breeds sound judgment. He deals with every patient with passion and commitment; a commitment that strives to make every outcome positive in patients with rheumatic disease. As he treats patients with arthritis, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and autoimmune diseases he uses the state of the art techniques in a musculoskeletal center of excellence.
Dr. Chatpar trained in Rheumatology at the Hospital for Special Surgery- the New York Presbyterian Hospital affiliated with Cornell University Medical College. Hospital for Special Surgery is ranked #1 in the United States for Orthopedics and Rheumatology.
Dr. Chatpar also has brought the world of genomics and the application of genetic research to the bedside in the treatment of his patients by working with the Feinstein Institute of North Shore- LIJ in Manhasset, Long Island. His patients have benefited from the latest treatments in all aspects of rheumatic disease.
He is a frequent lecturer, public speaker and a teacher for young physicians. He is an Assistant Professor in Rheumatology at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He is also the Chief of Rheumatology at North Shore Hospital in Plainview. He has been a Director for the Long Island Arthritis Foundation and is seen on their Arthritis Foundation Television Special. He has authored publications in peer-reviewed rheumatologic journals and most recently in treatment of rheumatoid arthritis with advanced biologic therapy.
He incorporates old- fashioned care with state of the art techniques in his offices. The offices have digital imaging, bone density, infusion center for advanced biologics and physical therapy. There the combination of the team approach and compassion that lends itself for individualized attention with an emphasis on innovation.
Dr. Chatpar’s dedication and goals haven’t changed in the least in the managed care insurance environment. He has just as much enthusiasm as he did when he embarked on his career; decades later, he has the experience that accompanies his excellent skills.
His mission is ultimately to prevent disability in his patients and bring about the “best of care” to each patient one at a time.
